WebResults Guide to Web Site Evaluation: Principles
- Web Evaluation should focus on measuring your success at achieving the results you defined for your Web site in your Web Plan
- For meaningful evaluation, it is important to define clear and measurable objectives for the site as part of your Web Plan (e.g., "to generate at least 20 new contacts from potential clients per year, resulting in at least five additional contracts for services")
- Don't rely on "hit" counters for evaluation: the number of "hits" or visits to your site may be an indication of success, but may also be irrelevant if they are not from your key target audiences
- Evaluation of your site against your Web Plan by objective outsiders can be extremely helpful
- Pay attention to the feedback and evaluation and make changes as needed to obtain the results you want.
Also see WebResults' suggested process for evaluation of your Web site. There's also a sample evaluation form that you can adapt to your own site.
