WebResults Guide to Web Site Planning: Principles

1. Web Plans should clearly define the results to be obtained from the Web and the approach or strategy that will be pursued to obtain them.

2. Plans should be defined though a group process that involves key decision makers and the individuals that will be responsible for designing and implementing the plan.

3. A Web Plan should flow out of and be integrated with the Strategic Plan of an organization. (If you don't have a Strategic Plan, you should define one first, or at least try to define a mission, strategy and broad goals for your organization.)

4. For non-profit organizations particularly, it is important to define the needs of your constituents and key target audiences for the Web site and what Web results will satisfy those needs.

How to develop a site following these principles is defined in more detail in the planning process.
